“The weather was bad” vs. “It rained for six days”?
You read my last posts and notice a better language. I write in the present tense. Phrases like “one of the most” are gone. The word “people” has vanished.
This is because I learn The Elements of Style which is a 100-page note of insights on escaping common writing mistakes and writing well.
If libraries were no extension of our school system, they would be an incredible hub for learners!
They could resemble the reading places of the Renaissance where some of the best Enlightenment thinkers have gotten their education.
Most people were trained to dislike the things they would do in libraries, like reading and do them anymore after they leave school, and so they don’t use the library.
But libraries could help people do so much more! Consider it with amneties for learning instruments, or to paint, or to make electronic systems.
There may be even toys! We have a myriad of toys lying around in middle class houses which are not being used anywhere whereas the poorer people do not have any!
Who is going to do the work to set all this up? We have millions of people looking for work. And this is not expensive to bootstrap.
It is something that has been abolished.
It is easy to make fun when you’ve got the truth on your side.
Jesus once was a future event.
Homer once was a future event.
You once were a future event.
2017 was once a future event.
Time contains them. And time contains you, in both directions: backwards and forwards.
PS: Eternity must lie outside of time because time cannot contain it. Eternity cannot be something that runs through time without end, for it must lie outside of it.
